Alba is the gastronomic capital of Piedmont and home to the famous Piazza Duomo 3 Michelin star restaurant.  It is of course most famous for the White truffle. There is a Truffle festival held there every year during October and November. Truffle hunters bring their precious truffles to the market and their pungent aroma fills the town. The White truffle can be sampled at the festival or with a meal in one of the many excellent restaurants in the town.

The beautiful villages of Barbaresco and Barolo are smaller than you might imagine, given their famous names, however they are filled with fantastic enoteca’s and restaurants where the traditional local food and famous wines can be sampled. Barbaresco has far reaching views along the famous Tanaro River and towards the Alps and Barolo has a grand castle, and a wine museum!

Nizza Monferrato is a UNESCO World Heritage town and home to Barbera d'Asti DOCG wine and the new NIZZA DOCG wine. It has excellent restaurants and delicatesants selling local produce and there is a regional enoteca located in the historic Palazo Crova palace.

The historic town of Asti is the home to the famous Palio (the oldest medieval horserace in Italy), which takes place during the 3rd week in September. This area is world famous for its high quality red and white wines especially the excellent Moscato di Asti and the ubiquitous Asti Spumante DOCG! It also hosts the well known international wine festival Douja d’or. There are many excellent restaurants where you can try the typical local dishes such as: Agnolotti, Tajarin and of course Bagna Cauda. 

Turin is the capital of Piedmont, at the 'foot of the mountains'. It’s a beautiful city, with grand undercover walkways, palaces and piazzas.  There are lots of fantastic places to eat and drink ranging from simple tratorrias to Michelin star restaurants. There are many excellent cafes, where you can drink coffee or the famous Bicerin (coffee, chocolate and cream, all in one cup!). Turin is home to the Aperitivo where you can enjoy a drink and appetizers before dinner at one of the many trendy bars.

Turin was the location for the Winter Olympics in 2006.  As a result there are lots of world class ski resorts within a hours drive of the city.  In the late spring and summer months when the snow has melted there are many National Parks where you can to explore the stunning Alpine landscapes.

The Lakes - Romantic Lake Orta and the western banks of Lake Maggiore are located in Piedmont, Lake Como is also only a short drive from here!. They are close to Milan Malpensa airport and just one and a half hours drive from the wine hills of Monferrato and the Langhe. There are many wonderful places to visit along the shore, where you can take boat trips to the Islands or stroll along the promenades.

The city of Milan is the fashion capital of the world with exclusive shops and fantastic restaurants. Milan catherdral is the largest Gothic Cathedral in the World and is renowned for its museums and art galleries.  Milan is also home to the famous Leonardo Da Vinci's 'Last Supper'. La Scala is located here and is considered to be one of the worlds most prestigious opera houses.

To the south of Piedmont lies Liguria famous for its olive oil, pesto and one of the most spectacular coastlines in the World. The city and port of Genoa is the beautiful and interesting capital of Liguria. From here you can travel along the coast south or north where you will find beautiful beaches, some of the best sea food in Italy and wonderful seaside towns and villages. If you stay on the coast for one and a half hours travelling North you will end up in Monte Carlo!

The exclusive resort of Portofino, can be found only about half an hour away from Genoa and from the larger nearby resort of Santa Margherita Ligure, you can take a boat trip to discover the World Heritage listed ‘Cinque Terre’, five beautiful unspoilt fishing villages along the coast towards Tuscany.
