Turin, The Lakes and The Riviera

Turin is the capital of Piedmont, at the foot of the mountains. It’s a beautiful city, with lots of grand undercover walkways and lots of fantastic places to eat and drink. There are many excellent cafes, where you can drink coffee or the traditional Bicerin (coffee, chocolate and cream, all in one cup!) or enjoy an Aperitivo before dinner at one of the trendy bars.

The Lakes
Romantic Lake Orta and the western banks of Lake Maggiore are located in Piedmont. They are close to Milan Malpensa airport and just one and a half hours drive from the wine hills of Monferrato and the Langhe. There are many wonderful places to visit along the shore, where you can take boat trips to the Islands or stroll along the promenades.

The Italian Riviera
To the south of Piedmont lies Liguria. It is easy to fly from Stansted London to Genoa, which is a small, convenient airport. From here you can travel along the coast to the famous, exclusive resort of Portofino, which is only about half an hour away. From here, or the larger nearby resort of Santa Margherita Ligure, you can also take a boat trip to discover the World Heritage listed ‘Cinque Terre’, five beautiful unspoilt fishing villages along the coast towards Tuscany.
