ENOTECAS AND WINE SHOPS IN BAROLO AND BARBARESCO
The wine regions of Piedmont are famous for their regional Enotecas. In many of the famous wine villages you will find a regional enoteca selling (and tasting) the wines from producers from that particular village. They are usually located in amazing historic buildings including castles, palaces and even a church in Barbaresco! It is a great way to get to know the local wines without having to visit every producer.
If you love high end Barolo and Barbaresco and other great Piemontese wines there is a great wine shop in Barolo village called Barololand that is a must visit! I have never seen such a great collection of the most famous (and expensive) Barolo and Barbaresco producers in one place with most of the great vintages of the last 20 - 30 years years still available. There is a similar shop with the same great choice of wines to try and buy, owned by the same company located in the beautiful Barbaresco village of Neive.
There is also quite a new wine shop that has opened in the stunning Barolo village of Serralunga d'Alba - called Enoteca Serralunga which has some amazing wines that are very hard to find and rarely available! There are lots of great places to try and buy wines in the Barolo area but these are some of the best.
If you are looking for something a bit different but just as interesting then we recommend that you visit the Al nido della Cinciallegra enoteca in the beautiful Barbaresco village of Neive. They have got a great selection of local wines including the ‘big names’ and also some good value high quality wines not easily found outside of Piedmont. They also have some delicious local food products for sale that you can even ‘try’ with a glass of delicious Barbaresco.
