Wine Tasting, Cooking & White Truffle Tour

September and October : 4 nights and 3 days

You will stay in the lovely small wine town of Alba, which is located between the famous vineyards of Barbaresco and Barolo and accross the valley from the hills of Roero. The 4 Star Hotel is family owned and is within walking distance of the centre of the town. Alba has some beautiful shops, a Satrurday morning market, lots of great bars and choice of amazing restaurants.

The rooms all have Sky TV, high speed wi-fi, climate control and air conditioning, minibar and ensuite bathrooms with a shower or bath. The prices are based on two people sharing a twin or double room*. Breakfast is included each day and includes cheeses, cold meats, freshly baked croissants, fresh fruit and also international options including bacon and eggs!

The tour starts on Thursday evening with a welcome dinner. You will have the oppotunity to meet the people in the group and also your guides. There will be an introduction to the region, an overview of the itinerary and information to help with any questions, requests or addition requirments.

Each day the program includes either lunch or dinner and a variety of activities to enjoy the most important food and wines from the region. There will be visits to cellars and vineyards, but the itinerary has been arranged to incorporate other activies too, whilst enjoying wines from a number of different producers.

There are activities to enjoy experiences with the others in the group, but also free time each day to tailor the tour to your own individual preferances and rerquirments.

Your Itinerary

DAY ONE

Friday FULL DAY LANGHE WINE TOUR

Collect from hotel in Alba at 09.30 am

Morning visit to the beautiful village of Barbaresco, followed by a tour and tasting at a winery in the middle of the historical vineyards closeby. Here you will have the opportunity to learn about the local winemaking techniques and try a selection of wines from the region including Barbaresco DOCG.

Lunch will be at the restaurant of a high quality wine producer, to include: a selection of apetisers, choice of fresh pasta dishes, desert and coffee. Each course will be served with high quality wines from their production, including Barolo DOCG.

In the afternoon you will visit some of the famous villages and a wine producer in the Barolo region, here you will have the opportunity to compare Barolo wines from different single 'Cru' vineyards and different vintages.

DAY TWO

Saturday TRUFFLE HUNT & COOKING

Morning free time to visit the famous Satrurday market in Alba town

Collection from the hotel at 11.00 am

Late morning Truffle hunt in local woods. This will include information about different types of truffles, how and where they grow and a 'Real' hunt with specially trained dogs. After the hunt there will be a tasting of White Truffle (hopefully some we find), with local Salami, cheeses and wine.

Visit to a producer in the region, with brief walk in the vineyards and tasting of high quality wines wines

Afternoon Cooking Class to prepare a gourmet dinner. You will prepare 2 traditional apetisers, fresh 'Tajarin' Pasta with Ragu sauce and a slow cooked Wild Boar dish*. You will also make a desert to try with Moscato wine or Barolo Chinato and enjoy a tasting of Grappa with coffee to finish.

* Alternatives and vegatarian options will be provided for thiose with specific dietary preferances and requirments.

Drop off at the hotel after dinner at about 10.00 pm

DAY THREE

Sunday MONFERRATO &ROERO

Morning visit to a historic Castle located in the Monferrato region. We start with a stroll through their stunning gardens and a brief tour of a few rooms in the Castle. We will then visit the Castle cellars, where they ae producing very high quality Red wines, including Pinot Noir from old vines and Barbera D'Asti DOCG.

Sunday Lunch will be at a trattoria in the Roero region, which is owner and run by three generations of a local family. The food is all home cooked and freshly prepared with produce from their own garden. The meal will be served with wines from the Roero region.

Drop off at the hotel around 4.00 pm

Four nights accomodation in 4 Star hotel from Thursday until Monday during September and October.

Truffle hunt and tasting of White Truffle, 2 lunches and 2 dinners with wine pairings, traditional cooking class, visits to at least 4 vineyards with extensive tastings including Barbaresco and Barolo wines from different “Cru’ vineyards and vintages and an English (and Italian) speaking guide/local food and wine specialist.
